In response to a question I recently posed during Question Period, Federal Science and Technology Minister Gary Goodyear confirmed that recipients of Federal research grants must waive the right not to be named in order to be eligible for taxpayer enabled funding.

As a Member of Parliament with a major research facility, Chalk River Laboratories, in my Riding, I share the concern of all credible, professional academics, that academic dishonesty in publication, particularly when public funds are involved cannot be tolerated. While this represents a very slim percentage of all research supported by the Federal Government in Canada, the reputation of all Canadian researchers is worth this effort.
