I was pleased to visit the Natural Health Centre in Barry’s Bay for the announcement of a $50,000 grant through the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF).

The money will go towards the construction of an accessible basement entrance to the Centre, a barrier-free washroom, and automatic door openers throughout the building.

The work to be done is especially helpful to Madawaska Valley residents.

Being a region underserviced when it comes to family doctors, an extra emphasis is placed on maintaining wellness.

The EAF supports community-based projects across Canada that improve accessibility, remove barriers, and enable Canadians with disabilities to participate in and contribute to their communities.

The EAF was established in 2008 to help fund small projects in communities across Canada to improve physical accessibility for persons with disabilities.

Between 2008 and 2010 the program provided funding to hundreds of accessibility projects across Canada.
