Thanks to innovations over the years by people at the NRU at Chalk River, cancer patients around the world are benefitting every day from nuclear medical imaging. Over one-third of the world’s supply, and over half of Canada’s supply, of nuclear radio-isotopes used for these procedures come from Chalk River Laboratories. Chalk River Labs has been supplying the world with nuclear medicine for over forty years, and this year they delivered on 98% of its isotope commitments. This stable supply of isotopes helped to ensure the health of Canadians and others around the world suffering from cancer and other serious ailments.
