I visited CFB Shearwater in Nova Scotia to see our new Cyclone helicopters, the replacement for Canada’s aging Sea King Fleet. September 16, 2016

Canada is a Nation of Debt. This year the average household debt hit almost 168%. Canadian households on average hold $1.68 in debt for every dollar they earn after taxes and other fees paid to government. Canadians are in so much debt because it is a struggle to maintain our standard of living when we ...

MP Cheryl Gallant Concerned UN Peacekeeping Mission Set For Failure

August 26, 2016

I spoke out today in response to the Liberal government announcement that it is prepared to risk the lives of 600 Canadian soldiers for the “selfie” Prime Minister’s vanity project to buy a seat on the United Nations Security Council. It is one thing to join our NATO allies in the War Against International Terrorism. ...

August 8, 2016

At the end of June, Canada was host to a meeting with the Presidents of the United States and Mexico. One does not have to read very much of their “Statement on a North American Climate, Clean Energy, and Environment Partnership” to know this declaration is full of bad news, particularly for rural Canadians. July 21, 2016

As Official Opposition Critic for FedNor, I recently questioned announced Federal Tourism funding when family campgrounds are struggling to stay in business as a result of unfair taxation. It seems every summer my office receives calls from constituents about someone going door-to-door trying to sell some unwanted ...

Trudeau Liberals Approve Ontario Hydro Sale

July 12, 2016

Consumers are the big losers with the decision by the Trudeau Liberals to rubber stamp the recent sale of Great Lakes Power Transmission to Ontario Hydro (now called Hydro One). Earlier this year in Parliament, I asked the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development to launch an inquiry into Ontario electricity rates. I asked ...

MP Gallant Defends Family Campgrounds

July 11, 2016

I am calling on the Trudeau Liberals to drop plans to go after private, family-run campgrounds as a source of revenue to pay for out-of-control spending. This is a direct assault on middle class Canadians. Jobs in rural Ontario are scarce. This is another attack on rural Canada. Referring to the little noticed headline in ...

Is Political Correctness Putting Canadians at Risk?

July 8, 2016

Is political correctness putting Canadians at risk? That question needs to be asked following ill-advised comments made by senior Trudeau advisors about the recent vote in Great Britain to leave the European Union (EU). The referendum vote for British Exit from the EU, dubbed “BREXIT,” while encouraging a debate on the benefits of trade, also ...
