A petition to Parliament is the most direct and formal means for Canadians to address the House of Commons. As a Member of Parliament, I can present petitions on behalf of Canadians and the Government is obligated to provide a response within 45 days. A petition must have at least 25 signatures of Canadian Citizens. There are several other rules to ensure a petition is in proper order. Before a I can present your petition in Parliament it must be certified by the Clerk of Petitions. Before you gather signatures, please, contact me. I can help prepare your petition so it conforms to the rules of the House of Commons.
