Our Government is proud of our record of support for Canada’s seniors. Most recently, our low-tax plan for jobs and growth provides a top-up benefit to the Guaranteed Income Supplement, helping maintain the financial security of more than 680,000 seniors across Canada.
This is in addition to the steps Stephen Harper’s Conservative Government has already taken to support seniors – pension income splitting, increases to the Age Credit, and doubling the income eligible for the Pension Income Credit. We also eliminated mandatory retirement for seniors in federally-regulated industries, invested in affordable housing, and are working to combat elder abuse.
Canadians gave us a strong mandate to help seniors improve their quality of life. We’re glad to give back to those who helped build our country.
