Pembroke, Ontario…. Cheryl Gallant, MP Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke made the following statement following the death of Jack Layton:

“I was deeply saddened to learn this morning of the death of Leader of the Official Opposition  Jack Layton. When I last saw Mr. Layton in the House of Commons following the May election, I congratulated him on the vigorous election campaign we had all fought together. I shared his determination the summer Parliamentary recess would provide him with the break he needed to get ready for the fall session.”

“Jack Layton was in a unique position among many Canadians, some of whom sympathized with things he had to say even though their politics differed.”

“On behalf of my husband Jamie and our family, I offer to his wife, my fellow MP colleague Olivia, his family, and to his colleagues and friends, our heartfelt condolences. Our prayers and best wishes are with you during the grieving process.”
