I was in Renfrew this past Friday to see firsthand, how local manufacturing business, ETM Industries Inc, put its funding through the National Research Council (NRC) Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program to work. ETM Industries, which has been in operation since 1977, received $50, 000. The manufacturing company provides precision components in telecommunications, automotive aerospace industries and mining.

Our Conservative government is supporting these types of projects because they create skilled jobs right here in Canada.  Funding for ETM Industries is a result of an investment from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario in NRC-IRAP and is another example of how this Agency is supporting innovation throughout Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.
Canada’s nearly two million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – are the key drivers of job and wealth creation in all sectors of the nation’s economy. One of NRC’s objectives is to link its diverse networks, programs and infrastructure to businesses and help them access, develop and exploit new technologies and knowledge essential for their growth and prosperity. NRC’s Industrial Research Assistance Program is regarded worldwide as one of the best programs of its kind.

NRC-IRAP helps small and medium sized firms develop new technology and products that have the potential to materially increase the firm’s sales or employment. The program helps entrepreneurs take their ideas from concept to reality and move them into the marketplace and the hands of consumers.

Residents throughout the riding want the government to stay focused on the economy and we’re following through on this commitment. That is why we are pleased to have invested Federal funds in ETM Industries so that they can continue to move forward with activities that strengthen their reputation for excellence in innovation, and help keep local jobs.
