On behalf of the Government of Canada I am pleased to announce renewed investment in Eastern Ontario businesses and communities.   The Government of Canada will be investing $30 million over the next three years will support the renewal of the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP), resulting in a greater number of economic development initiatives and improved partnerships.

Providing the proper support to our local businesses and communities is vital in the creation of jobs in our communities.  The renewal of the EODP means new opportunities for job creation and growth in our communities and businesses.

The Eastern Ontario Development Program was created in 2009, and has promoted economic development in eastern Ontario, which has lead to a diversified and competitive regional economy with successful businesses and prosperous communities.

The Eastern Ontario Development Program has been a catalyst for business and community development across eastern Ontario for a number of years. One success story arising from this program is the installation of high-speed Internet at area schools was a project conducted by the local BRAVO (Broadband Renfrew Access Valley Ottawa) Task Force which MP Gallant formed to improve high-speed access in underserviced regions in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke. Since then the Conservative Federal Government has committed funds to spread broadband throughout Eastern Ontario.
