Petawawa, Ontario – Cheryl Gallant, M.P. for Renfrew—Nipissing—Pembroke, was pleased to join Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet in announcing $14,700 in funding from Heritage Canada for Petawawa’s 150th Anniversary celebrations, taking place August 21st to 23rd, 2015.

“I would like to thank Heritage Canada for choosing to support Petawawa’s 150th Anniversary celebrations,” said MP Gallant.  “These activities will help commemorate Petawawa’s long and rich history with its residents and all who attend, while helping to improve existing public sites so they can remain an excellent visit long after the celebrations have wrapped up.”

The funding will go towards projects aiming to enhance the town in preparation for the August events, including the installation of foundations along the Emerald Trail, and paying tribute to the first reeve of the County, James McGregor, who was a Petawawa native.

The anniversary celebration are expected to attract 15,000 visitors to Petawawa, and will involve 250 volunteers dedicating up to 2000 hours to planning managing and implementation of this 3 day anniversary.
