Throughout its long history, the surrounding communities have been highly supportive of the Chalk River Laboratories, and each year they try and give back to the greater community. AECL’s head office was recently re-located, creating more than 80 new jobs in the Upper Ottawa Valley, on top of the more than 2,700 full-time staff already employed at the Chalk River Laboratories. AECL employees also continued to support community causes close to home this year, raising over $145,000 for the Renfrew County United Way, the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and the Salvation Army among other worthy agencies.
