Cobden, Ontario – Cheryl Gallant, M.P. for Renfrew—Nipissing—Pembroke, was pleased to visit the Whitewater Region Municipal Office in Cobden to announce $24,525 in funding through the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF).
“Our Conservative Government’s approval of this proposal means more seniors will be able to participate in activities here,” said MP Gallant. “This project will open the Whitewater Regional Office to residents and visitors with accessibility needs, as well as making the parking lot safer by levelling out the surface.”
The grant will go towards the rehabilitation and re-paving of the Municipal Parking Lot, as well as an improvement to the rear entrance by installing an automatic door opener.
The EAF supports community-based projects across Canada that improve accessibility, remove barriers, and enable Canadians with disabilities to participate in and contribute to their communities. The EAF was established in 2008 to help fund small projects in communities across Canada to improve physical accessibility for persons with disabilities. Between 2008 and 2010 the program provided funding to hundreds of accessibility projects across Canada.
